SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE

This week our 3rd of ESO students watched the film 'Slumdog Millionaire', a British drama film.

The film tells the story of Jamal, an 18 year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai who is about to experience the biggest day of his life. With the whole nation watching, he is just one question away from wining 20 million rupees on India's 'Who wants to be a millionaire?'.

Once they watched it, in pairs they are going to create a brief leaflet with some relevant information about the film including their opinion.


TITANIC

This week our 1st of ESO students watched the memorable film 'Titanic'.

As it is well known, 'Titanic' is a film where a 101-year-old woman tells the story about her life on a ship called Titanic. She explains the whole story from the departure of the ship until the Titanic collides with an iceberg and it begins to sink.

After watching the film, next week, in pairs they are going to create a leaflet including some of the most relevant information about the film together with their opinions.

English and Music

Last week 1st of ESO students did an oral presentation about their favourite Spanish or Catalan song.

First, in groups of three or four they chose their song. Second, they searched for information with their ipads; and finally, they presented all the information orally in front of their classmates. They spoke about the reasons why they had chosen the song, about the singer or group and about the song. Then, we listened to 2 minutes of each song.

They enjoyed this activity a lot!

FILMS

Last week our 3rd of ESO students watched a film.

Atlantida class watched Mr. & Ms. Smith. This film is about a bored married couple who are surprised to learn that they are both assassins hired by competing agencies to kill each other.

Canigo class watched About Time that is a 2013 romantic comedy-drama film about a young man with the special ability to time travel who tries to change his past in order to improve his future.

They enjoyed a lot!

WORLD POETRY DAY



World poetry day is on 21st March. The purpose of this day is to promote the reading, writing, publishing and teaching of poetry throughout the world. It is for this reason that this week some 3rd of ESO students have been working on a poem by T.S. Eliot titled 'A morning at the window'.

First, they have discovered some information about the life and death of T.S. Eliot. Second, they have read the poem and they have been discussing about their different interpretations. Finally, they organized a mini debate about money and happiness.

They enjoyed a lot! Here you have the poem.

Sing Along Project


Last week, 3rd and 4th of ESO students have been working on three songs in each group because on Monday they are having a Sing Along session in our school. Sing Along is an English project based on music. The main idea is that through songs, we can learn and improve some of the language skills such as listening, reading and pronunciation.
Concretely, 3rd of ESO students have been preparing 'Merci' (Duffy), 'I love the way you lie' (Eminem & Rihanna) and 'Moves like Jagger' (Maroon 5 & Christina Aguilera); and 4th of ESO 'Living on a prayer' (Bon Jovi), 'Rehab' (Amy Winehouse) and 'The show must go on' (Queen).
They will enjoy it a lot!

They have been singing all the times and they've enjoyed it a lot.
